Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church has 140 church buildings all over Estonia, most of them are historically and culturally valuable. Traditionally the church doors are opened when there is a worship taking place in the church. EELC Consistory has initiated a project called "The traveller's church" with an aim to introduce these valuable churches to the foreign and domestic tourists, as well as to the people who simply wish to pray in the church.
The traveller's churches open their doors to every prayer, pilgrim and traveller. Everyone has a possibility to enter into a church, to ask, to think and to get the answers. One of the predecessors of the present tourism was a pilgrimage in the Middle Ages. Many people visited our churches from abroad as well as from home.
